Gentle readers, Boyfriend and your MatchGirl went off-plan this past weekend. Your MatchGirl awoke Saturday morning with running eyes and a stuffy head and an achy body. Ugh. Sick. I spent two days curled up on the couch, watching Netflix and drinking loads of fluids. Even my favorite cold remedy, Alka-Seltzer cold, barely helped.
Boyfriend, though, knows my two favorite comfort foods - and made them both for me on the weekend. One is green curry with chicken - something I've tried to make myself many times, with little success. The other is pasta with red sauce.
How did they turn out? Obviously, the pasta was simple - perfect and delicious, with Boyfriend-made sauce and whole wheat spaghetti noodles. The green curry, while not as good as the Thai place around the corner, was a pretty good first effort. And seriously, how lucky am I to have the kind of man who would want to make that from scratch for me?
Now ... for the menu plan for this coming week.
Monday: Caesar salad
Tuesday: Fish, with the Kale salad of Valentine's Day on the side
Wednesday: Leftover Chili (which we had on Sunday night)
Thursday: Chicken & Rice casserole
Friday: Boyfriend calls burger night.
Saturday: Leftover casserole
Sunday: Yankee pot roast a la Boyfriend (since he's from California, it will be fun to watch him make this classic New England dish...)
